As a maker of small woodenware in the early 1970's Lucille joined an
all female group of artisans and artists in a jointly operated shop
overlooking the By Ward Market. She continued this association with other artisans
at various locations in The Market and vicinity until she moved from Ottawa to Winchester in 1996.
Access to space allowed her to add plants and fresh & dry flowers
to her repertoire and she joined the North Gower Farmers' Market,
then the Metcalfe Farmers' Market in 2001.
Her preference for butternut and choice of burned and painted
ornamentation in a naturalistic style makes her work recognizably
Canadian. As a consequence, her boxes may often be found in a
variety of countries both as official gifts and as
tokens of personal friendship
